Within the context of “Nuit Blanche 2006” festival, organized in Paris for the 5th time, Danae Stratou is presenting an especially edited video under the title “The River of Life” with the support of Zoumboulakis Galleries.

On the night of October 7, from 8:30pm until 4:30am, videos by 32 artists from allover the world will be projected on a screen above the Canal St. Martin, under the title “Tous gagnants / Everybody wins”. The project has been curated by Shalva Khakhanashvili. “Nuit Blanche” is considered one of the most important cultural events in Paris and it is inspired by the idea of wandering around the city streets on a “white night”.

Danae Stratou’s video consists of images documented while traveling on a riverboat along 7 major terrestrial rivers (Danube, Nile, Amazon, Mississippi, Tiger, Yangtze, Ganges).

The work is based on the full version of The River of Life, which was created for The National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST), within the context of the exhibition Transcultures (August 2004).
