Urgent Conversations: Antwerp – Athens is the second part of the collaboration project between the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp (Μ HKA) and the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens (EMST), which was launched in 2016. The exhibition is structured in four episodes until January 2018 and continues the theoretical and visual dialog between the works from the collections of the two museums.
The River of Life (2004), is a video installation comprising seven 30’ films simultaneously projected in a specially constructed circular space. Commissioned by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture as an acquisition for the permanent collection of the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) in Athens, Greece. Danae Stratou, travelled for a whole year filming seven major terrestrial rivers: the Danube, the Nile, the Amazon, the Mississippi, the Niger, the Yangtze and the Ganges.
