Icastica 2015 is the third sequence of a cultural event that deals with international aesthetics through art. It is organized by the Culture Department of Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy. Icastica will take place in Arezzo from the 27th June to the 25th October. This year’s theme is, ‘cultivate the culture’ in the wake of the concept of Expo 2015, ‘feeding the planet, energy for life’, that took place in Milan. My participation in this show will comprise the video installation ICESONGS2, realised in 2012 with the collaboration of Vasilis Kountouris. 4. MY PROJECT PROPOSAL AIRTHGATES, RUNNER UP IN U.S. PUBLIC ART COMPETITION
After a lot of thought I decided to include a new category on my website featuring Project Proposals and Competition Participations
I was recently selected by the Public Artist Organization in the US as one of the five finalists to submit a proposal, in an open call competition, for the Austin Bergstrom International Airport, Airport Entrance Project. My project proposal, AIRTHGATES, won second prize and is the runner up project for this competition. The work proposal consists of 10 geometrically identical, helical, tilted arches over the entry and exit drives, to and from, the airport. The arches are designed to twist by a phase difference of 180o as they expand from the one side of the road to the other.
